How could I help
I have a good understanding of what it is like to work in a competitive organisation. In the past, I worked in finance in The City and have an MBA Degree. I understand how our buttons can get pressed all the time at work and how doubts can creep in. I understand how hard it can be to have a life when you are career driven. I understand how empty and miserable it can feel in the middle of the night when it feels as though whatever you do is not enough.
I used to be a busy professional. I was a perfectionist who worried a lot. It wouldn’t be enough to do everything I could at work. I would then go home and worry about things and bring work home with me. I thought I was going the extra mile. My work and life balance was shocking. I was always making excuses to avoid things that interfered with my work. My social life was dismal. I thought people who left work on time were lazy or lacking in ambition. I had a busy job and also studied for an MBA into the early hours of the morning. It took me years to understand how my early experiences were informing my current thoughts and behaviours. I learnt the hard way and it was painful, interesting and very expensive in terms of time, money and emotional capital.
I learnt how important it is to choose the right therapist and to research a therapist’s credentials and what they mean to make sure I was getting evidence-based help to transform my life.
